Screen Grab Analysis (Shots) [Niall]

Screen Grab Analysis (Shots)

Our piece opens with a focus pull from the plant to the character that Toby plays, Artnal. The use of a focus pull shows the easing in to the setting, establishing the location of the scene.

The briefcase, our main prop used throughout the opening sequence, is then framed through Artnal’s shoelace. The framing draws attention to whatever is inside, and the audience will be aware that the briefcase is of importance.

In this shot, Sam’s character, Zinoviev, is taking off his helmet. By the time he has fully taken it off, Niall’s character, Dufrais, is behind him. We chose to implement this shot, as we believed it would add a sense of mystery to the piece.

In this shot, we decided to utilise the two trees. We thought this looked good, and decided to frame our character played by Mike, Carlos, in-between the two trees. We also featured character Antoine, played by Dan, taking off his jacket and approaching Carlos.

  1. Good names for characters! You should do more of this now that you're editing. Have a look at level 4 blogs from last year, or look at Max, Max, +Camilla's blog from this year, linked from Andrew's blog (Andrew's is linked from mine)
